Lithium-Ion Battery Parameter Identification for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Using Drive Cycle Data

This paper proposes an approach for the accurate and efficient parameter identification of lithium-ion battery packs using only drive cycle data obtained from hybrid or electric vehicles. The was experimentally validated collected a BMW i8 vehicle. dual polarization model used, new open circuit voltage equation proposed based on simplification combined model, with aim reducing number parameters to be identified. performed NEDC rolling road dynamometer; results showed that improved accuracy terminal estimation, peak error 2.16% Nernst 1.28%. Furthermore, robustness these models in maintaining when cycles were used evaluated by comparing WLTC simulations experimental measurements. robustness, reduction RMS more than 50% compared model. These findings are significant because they will improve model-based management systems vehicles, allowing performance prediction without requirement recharacterization different individual cell characterization.
